I slept well last night.
Got my new pair of spectacles today, but though rather unique looking, they are just a pair of specs. What comes to mind is the current branding trend amongst teenagers. We see new handphones, iPods, everything from the Crumpler bags down to the shoelaces have been branded. Do we actually get a sense of achievement for being a walking advertisement for Addidas, Reebok, Nike or Converse? I just can't understand it. I have never been one to go for branding, I never said I must have an iPod, I had never said that I must have that pair of Nike shoes that cost over $100. So, what exactly is the point? I have seen people using normal unbranded canvas shoes, and they don't in anyway seem different to me. I myself, though using a pair of Adidas shoes, I just use them because I have flatfeet, and normal canvas shoes don't work for me.
Even my mp3 player is a Samsung one, definitely not a brand that you'd consider when wanting to get a good mp3 player. Well, I guess it's up to each and everyone, but the reason as for which caused me to blog this post, was the way a frame that looked like any old frame, just branded under Real Madrid, was worth almost $200.
I mean, what is the point, who in the world would be looking at your glasses to find out their brand?
Food for thought.
